Highlands End Holiday Park

West Dorset Leisure Holidays

Highlands End Farm, now Highlands End Holiday Park, in Eype was purchased by the family in 1971 after they decided to relocate from Hertfordshire where the family ran a very successful 750 acre arable farm (with over 1000 pigs) and a fruit and vegetable wholesale business to start a new holiday business.  Highlands End farm, as it was then, had ceased farming and had already started to offer a location for caravans although with very basic park facilities. West Dorset was chosen by the family as an ideal location to start their new business venture; not only did Highlands End Farm have the space to build the Holiday Park they planned but was in an area of great natural beauty with stunning views in all directions.

 Thorncombe Beacon

Being the first park owned by the family we are proud of the first class facilities that we have to offer and the history of its development.  The family’s objective has always been to provide visitors with the highest quality facilities and amenities.  The first thing the family did was to provide and improve the basic facilities of toilets in 1975 and revolutionary shower blocks were added some years later which cost 2 shillings to operate the hot water! This continued with the provision of underground services for Caravan Holiday Homes and generally updated the facilities for visitors. In 1985 a Bar and Restaurant was introduced, as you would expect quite a lot different to the bar you will see today.  The Highlands End indoor swimming pool was built in 1988.

 Colmers Hill

The next major development was the expansion of the bar in 1993; this created the unique ‘Fire Engine Room’ and the home to the centre piece of the owners’ fire service collection a 1936 Leyland Fire Engine. In 2003, a 1906 Horse Drawn Engine was added to the collection.

In 2009 the flats on the drive were demolished and rebuilt as luxury fully furnished Apartments for hire all year round.

The accommodation at Highlands End Holiday Park now comprises of 142 privately owned Caravan Holiday Homes, 18 Self Catering Hire Caravan Holiday Homes and 200 pitches for camping, touring and motorhomes. For a view of the park why not take a look at our park map section, you may need to scroll to the correct park.

West Dorset Holiday Apartments which are located on Highlands End are available all year round and consist of 2 Bungalows with views across Eype and the Dorset coastline and 3 Apartments (Built in 2009) overlooking Bridport, farmland and Highlands Holiday Park’s wildlife lake which was opened for walkers in 2011.

Located on the cliff top Highlands End Holiday Park has outstanding views across Lyme bay and the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. The park itself sits on the brow of a hill, with the village of Eype to its right and West Bay to the left. West Bay is our local harbour. Just 500 metres from a lovely unspoiled beach; Highlands End offers wonderful walking in each direction with exceptional views that are truly spectacular, largely over National Trust land and farms, ideal for trips out for all the family, including dogs which are welcome on the park. Highlands End is also proud to have been awarded David Bellamy Gold Status for wildlife conservation.

The leisure facilities offer a wide range of activities to make you feel healthier and more relaxed no matter what the weather; they include an indoor heated swimming pool* which is kept at a comfortable 29 degrees, sauna/steam room*, gymnasium*, games room, children's play areas, tennis court* and pitch and putt* (* additional charge).

Highlands End also offers a fully licenced bar and Restaurant with a wide choice of bar food for all the family and includes a comprehensive and interesting display of Fire Service Memorabilia.

There is a shop for everyday groceries, drinks, frozen food, caravan accessories and a variety of locally produced food and drink; providing our guests with all the essentials they need for their self-catering holiday. Our Tourist Information point is a hub of information for local events, services and many of the attractions in Dorset and the local area.  You will also find an interactive video which will teach you all you need to know and where to visit along the Jurassic coast.
