I completed one of the owners questionnaires early this year suggesting that for safety reasons we should have at least one salt/grit bin on site as the road through the site is lethal in the winter. If someone had a fall who would be responsible for compensation should such a claim arise? Better to ensure the roads/paths are suitably treated wouldn't you think? Looking at the expense for works you are to complete for the other 4 sites this winter, a grit bin for Larkfield would be "a drop in the ocean". Please consider.

Thank you for your remarks which to summarise in a few words is 'a request for a grit bin at Larkfield'.

Unfortunately, your comment on the earlier questionnaire was overlooked, but you will be pleased to hear that following the extreme conditions last winter we now have ample grit and salt at Highlands End to clear the drive and our plan is to come to Larkfield when the Lodges are open as soon as the main roads have been treated and it is safe to do so. We have also undertaken, on behalf of the community, to hold sufficient grit to treat the lane down to Eype and the hill out of Seatown.

Please note that the local authorities have prioritised the roads to be gritted or cleared of snow depending on the severity of the weather and you may find that the main road through the village will be treated but the lane outside the park may not or will be given a lower priority.

I will ask the Maintenance Team to investigate the feasibility of placing a salt bin at Larkfield although it may not be done until after the Xmas Break.

On a general note of safety, I would recommend that whether the park roads, lane or main road are treated or not that you take great care during adverse weather conditions and only travel if it is absolutely necessary.

Also, there will obviously be a time delay as it is not possible for the local authority (or our staff) to treat all the roads at the same time and it is impossible to cover all areas. Therefore, it is essential that we all take responsibility for our own welfare if attempting to walk or drive in bad conditions
