West Dorset Leisure Holidays Early Days
The first holiday park, Highlands End was purchased in 1971 by Mr and Mrs Butcher with their daughters. The family developed the park to provide improved toilets and shower facilities, underground services for caravan holiday homes and generally upgraded the services for visitors.
In 1978 Golden Cap Holiday Park was purchased, and in the mid 80’s the business was passed over from Mr and Mrs Butcher to their daughter and her husband, Mr and Mrs Cox. In 1985 the bar was opened at Highlands End and the swimming pool was added in 1988. Alberlon Caravan Park was purchased in 1987 and merged with Golden Cap Holiday Park.
Graston Copse and Larkfield Holiday Parks were purchased at the beginning of 1997 and Sandyholme Holiday Park was purchased in 2008.
40 Years of West Dorset Leisure Holidays
In 2011 the 40th Anniversary was celebrated for the opening of Highlands End, it was a merry moment for all the family and a lot of staff, reminiscing in what things were like then and now. As time moves along the family is always looking for new ideas and always taking great pleasure in welcoming guests that have stayed at the park year after year.
